I always love hearing what everyone is currently reading so I thought I would share my list as well, along with a few of my all-time favorites!
Disclaimer: I’m reading about 5 different books right now. Ah! My husband has been playing Fortnite non-stop (#reallife – who else has an obsessed hubby?) so I’ve been getting lots of reading in the last few months!
I haven’t always been an avid-reader but I love that I’ve grown to be one. I wouldn’t say that I read #allthebooks but I love design books, how-to’s, business books and of course beach-y love stories. One of my all-time favorite things to do on our yearly vacation to Hilton Head Island is to go to the beach in the evening with my comfy beach chair & read while Matt fishes until sunset. The view is pretty great, too!
My Favorite Beach Books
The High Tide Club by Mary Kay Andrews (currently reading!) // The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews // Beach Town by Mary Kay Andrews // Summer Rental by Mary Kay Andrews
Yes, I love Mary Kay Andrews A LOT!! I could go on & on but these are a few of my favorites! If you love her, too, comment below with your favorite!
Here’s to Us by Elin Hilderbrand // The Rumor by Elin Hilderbrand
Elin Hilderbrand is another favorite!
My Favorite Books for the Soul
Grace Not Perfection (Embracing Simplicity, Celebrating Joy) by Emily Ley: I read this one last year and absolutely fell in love with all things Emily Ley. My best friend and I are planning to do the Grace Not Perfection Study Guide and I can’t wait to get started!
I will hold myself to a standard of Grace, Not Perfection. Yes, please.
Make It Happen (Surrender Your Fear. Take The Leap. Live On Purpose) by Lara Casey: I finally read this book in April and it was so helpful in switching my mindset from #allthethings to what’s most important.
Cultivate (A Grace-Filled Guide to Growing an Intentional Life) by Lara Casey: I am about half-way through this one & I can’t say enough good things about it. When I read anything Lara puts out into the world (be it on social media, her blog or one of her books) I feel like she’s talking directly to me and I bet you will feel the same. 😉
Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist: I read this book earlier this year & plan to read it again at least once a year from now on! Shauna shared all of the things I needed to hear at a time that I needed to hear it most. If you’re feeling disconnected or overwhelmed (or just want to read an amazing book) I can not recommend this one enough.
My Favorite How-To Books
A Simplified Life (Tactical Tools for Intentional Life by Emily Ley): I just finished this one & now I need to read it again so I can apply all of the amazing tips & tricks she shared. My favorite tip was to not go & spend money on storage solutions because you probably already have a cute basket (or 10) underneath all of the clutter. So far I’ve found 14 cute baskets & boxes. AH!
The Total Money Makeover (A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness) by Dave Ramsey: Oh, Dave Ramsey. What can I say about this book that hasn’t been said time & time again?
Live like no one else now so later you can live like no one else.
Magnolia Table (A Collection of Recipes for Gathering) by Joanna Gaines: This beautiful cookbook has been on our kitchen counter since the day it came out at Target. I love taking it out on the deck & reading through all of Joanna’s stories that accompany her recipes. Full disclosure: I haven’t actually attempted anything yet but it’s on the list. I think I’ll attempt JoJo’s Biscuits first. Have you made anything from Magnolia Table? Tell me in the comments below!
Stay tuned next month for my favorite business books! Until then…
xoxo!! emily
